Chirer pulao is a popular, lunch box item in India and also very filling breakfast. It takes only 10 to 20 minutes to cook. This is my version, adapted from my mom's recipe. It is just perfect option to prepare when you have small get together at home. so please do try it next time and share your experience by commenting on this page below! So let's jump to the recipe:

Ingredients
  • Chire/Poha/Flattened rice (soaked)
  • Onion sliced
  • Carrot chopped(boiled)
  • Ginger chopped
  • potato chopped(boiled)
  • Ghee/ vegetable oil
  • Bay leaves
  • Cardamom(elaichi)
  • Cloves
  • Salt to taste
  • Sugar
  • Turmeric
  • Peanut
  • Raisin
  • Green chiles slited
  • Bombay mix/chanachur(optainal)


Method
  1. Soacked the chire/flattened rice for 5minutes
  2. Set the kadai on heat and put the ghee/ vegetable oil
  3. When hot, add bayleaves,cardamom,cloves and let them ceackle.
  4. Now add the onion slice fry them a little,then add the chopped potato,chopped carrot, peanuts,raisin and salt.
  5. Stir fry for a couple of minutes,now add the soaked chire (poha), little bit of turmeric, sugar mix well.
  6. Add some slited green chili and add some ghee and toss well on medium flame until you see the chire is softening .  
  7. Add some bombay mix/chanachur and serve it.

Bengali style Veg Fried Rice

Veg Fried Rice
Bengali style veg fried rice is a slightly sweeter version of fried rice. This fried rice is an ultimate delight for a veg meal. This fried rice is very nutritious. In this recipe, you can add seasonal vegetables aside from peas, beans, carrots and it is really easy to cook. So let's jump to the recipe
   
 Cooking Time: 60 minutes

 Ingredients

  • Basmati rice                300g
  • Carrots                        100g
  • Beans                          100g
  • Peas                             50g
  • Bay leaves                   4pcs
  • Cinnamon                   1stick
  • Cardamom                  4pcs
  • Cloves                         4pcs
  • Cashew nuts                25g
  • Raisins                         25g
  • Green chilies               6pcs 
  • Garam masala powder as required
  • Salt as required
  • Sugar                           26g
  • Ghee                            10g
  • Vegetable oil               15g
Method

1) Wash and boiled the rice until it is 80 to 90% tender then drain the water and spread it.

2) set the pan /kadai on medium heat and add vegetable oil and ghee. once heat up the oil with bay leaves, cinnamon, cardamom, cloves. 

3) After that add cashewnuts and fry them slightly golden then turn up the heat and add all vegetables. First add the carrots. stir-fry it for 2 minutes and then add beans, peas. 

4) Fry all the veggis but dont lose the crunch. After 5 to 15 minutes, then add some salt and sugar to taste. Add the boiled rice and mix very well then add some slited green chilies and raisins. your ghee bhat/ bengali style fried rice is ready to serve.

Bread Gulab Jamuns

                                       
 Bread Gulab Jamuns


Gulab jamun is everybodys' all time favourite, making bread gulab jamuns comes in handy when you don't have khoya/mawa or milkpowder. Gulab jamuns are best made with mawa or milkpowder, but there are alternatives like bread which do come to rescue if you do not have khowa or milkpowder. Bread gulab jamuns are more soft and tasty like bread pudding, 

So let's jump to the recipe:

Cooking time:25 minutes

Ingredients
  • 6 bread slice
  • 3 green cardamoms
  • 5 to 6 tablespoon milk
  • oil 
  • 1cup sugar
  • half cup water
Method
  1. First,make the sugar syrup. For syrup set the pan on heat and put one cup of sugar and half cup of water, then add some green cardamoms, boil the water until it become thick. (just like syrup should be)
  2. Take 6 slice of bread and grind them in grinder jar.
  3. Add some cardamom seeds .
  4. Now take the ground bread in a mixing bowl, add 5 to 6 tablespoon of milk, just bring the whole mixture together so that its binds well.
  5.  Then made small sized balls from the dough.
  6. Now heat oil for deep frying in a pan, add a tiny piece of the dough and check the oil temperature. if the dough comes up gradually. oil is ready for frying.
  7.  Add the balls and deep fry them until the colour become golden .
  8.  Then remove with a spoon, keep them aside.
  9. Now add them in sugar syrup(syrup should be hot or warm), cover the bowl and keep them for few minutes.
  10. Your super easy and tasty bread gulab jamuns are ready to serve.
